We have stayed in Argonauta multiple times. LOVE the house!!! We stayed there last in April 2010 for 11 days (4 couples). It has whole house A/C, which we used the whole time. The sun really shines into the living/dining/kitchen areas and can get quite hot depending on the time of year.
The two bedrooms in the pod definitely have the best views, but no one complained about their bedroom during our stay. How much time do you really spend in the bedroom anyway?! The beds are very comfortable.
kitchen is big and we could all be in the kitchen area without being
crowded. We cooked most of our meals and the huge counter space made
it easy to do prep work. Wonderful covered deck space for for dining
and watching the sunset. Also plenty of space around the pool. There
is a bar near the pool with a mini frig which we made use of. There
is a 1/2 bath off the pool deck which is convenient as well as a washer
& dryer for your use. We pack very light so having the W&D is
a big plus.
12 thru 19, 2011
April 22 - May 2, 2010
Argonauta is our FAVORITE villa on St John. Have stayed there multiple times and it never disappoints. This year hubby & I invited 2 other couples who had never been to St John. They fell in love with STJ and could not have been happier with the accommodations. Absolutely everything was perfect. Will stay there again and again.
One of the girls (OK,
we're in our 50's...LOL) is an artist. She took her watercolors and
spent most mornings painting different views from the decks and walkways.
She also took many photos and surprised us with a photo album a week
or so after the trip to remember it. I suspect they will be going with
us next year!!! Can't wait!!!
I see they added a hot tub..All I can say..this Villa, you can't beat the privacy..the views "stunning"..a 5 star villa..
I hope one day to return...Gorgeous villa..
I'd like to be a "rep" for these owners in the states for I would hightly recommend it...wouldn't ever stay anywhere else..location,location,location..
This "villa" has it all...They take pride in their home and once there, one doesn't want to leave...it's breathtaking...
An "Argonauta lover"
First, Vacation Vistas is amazing to deal with! This was our second time renting from them with other companies in between, and I definitely like dealing with Lisa and KD. One of the things I like about renting from Vacation Vistas is that they don't clear out everything previous renters left behind so be sure to check what's stocked already before heading to the store (including liquor).
We used all four of the bedrooms with our group. The two in the pod that are not connected to the house are probably my favorites. The one on the main floor of the house has to share a bathroom with anyone that doesn't want to go back to their rooms which wasn't really a problem for our group.
It was nice to have a/c in the main house. That was definitely a luxury that we did use as we were there in June.
The pool was smaller than all of the pools we have had at other villas but it was good enough for our purposes as we mainly used it to hang out in and have drinks while enjoying the beautiful views.
Speaking of views...the views are excellent from Argonauta. It faces out towards St. Thomas and is at the point so you don't have a bunch villas between you and the water. That was one of the things I really liked about it's location.
The other thing I REALLY liked is that it is so close to town yet doesn't feel that way at all. It feels very remote but you are in town in no time at all.
The only downfall in my opinion was the driveway. There really isn't room to turn around a car so whenever we returned to the villa, we carefully backed down the driveway.
I would stay there again in a heartbeat.
Those of us that have been to St. John several times and have even
stayed in a luxury villa in Catherineburg voted it our favorite villa
because of all of the above mentioned things.
p.s. we liked it better than Hakuna Matata on the North Shore and that says alot.
